Spill was approximately 1200bbl, with no recovery. The before treatment view is from just outside the tank battery looking along the direction of spill flow down the furrows. Note the distance the produced water spill extended into the field.
Post remediation with Microbial products looking from the far extent of the spill to the tank battery. The soil was treated, and a cotton crop was planted following treatment. The crop developed strong germination and growth.
Produced saltwater is a by-product in the reservoir that is brought to the surface with crude oil. Spills involving produced water are widespread concern for environmental officials, land managers, petroleum companies, and landowners. Produced water can have in most cases significant amount of dissolved solids, primarily Chlorides (Cl-). Because this high chloride, the water is devastating to the viability (ability to sustain life) of land, fields, and pastures. Timely remediation is critical to avoiding long term environmental impact. Our personnel are on call 24/7 to expedite your clean up and avoid these costly environmental impacts.
Mother nature has a very unique method to handle toxic substances. For example, Iron sulfide is pyrophoric (ability to self ignite), corrosive, and is very problematic in both manmade and natural systems. In nature, bacteria are recruited to assist in the sequestration of sulfate and sulfides into pyrite. "Pyrite can be found in soils and sediments throughout the Earth as myriads of microscopic crystals. This pyrite is formed by bacteria that remove oxygen from sulfate in the water, producing sulfide that reacts with iron to form pyrite. More than 90 percent of the pyrite on Earth is formed by microbiological processes." Rickard, D 2016. Now we have an iron sulfide substance which is benign, attractive, and useful in electronics.
Chameleon again taps into nature as we recruit bacteria to sequester the chlorides into a benign insoluble salt crystal which promotes a viable soil environment to grow plants. This process restores the environment back to its original natural state. Our technology saves companies money while providing them high quality products that minimize and removes the environmental impact. Our methods are proven via analytical reports to physically reduce the devastating chloride levels present in the soil after a produced water spill.
5 locations were treated with our solutions successfully. Data is published in and SPE paper.
The site in the image to the right tested at 45,000 ppm in September 2017. In April 2018 the site tested for chlorides at 5,000 ppm Plants began to grow back and the land was naturally restored.
